From surfwashed beaches to calm tidal inlets, the charming town of Tofino is surrounded by water. Across the inlets, a rich green expanse of rainforested islands and mountains lies just out of reach, beckoning people to the water's edge and beyond. Exploring the seashore by Sea Kayak is the natural progression to any visit. Best of all, with the help of an experienced guide, nearly everyone can paddle.

2010 Tours

Harbour Islands/ Clayoquot Island Tours $60 | 2.5 hours | This short tour is an ideal introduction to sea kayaking. After brief instruction and getting comfortable in the boat we launch into a delightful exploration of the islands that surround the Tofino Harbour.
Meares Island and
the Big Tree Trail or
Meares Creek Estuary
$75 | 4 hours | Crossing the Tofino Harbour we island-hop the intertidal shorelines and cruise the shallow eelgrass flats for outstanding bird-watching opportunities. You'll enjoy a short stroll on Meares Island and feel awed by the power and beauty of this majestic ancient forest.
Lemmens Inlet or
Vargas Shorelines
$115 | 6 hours | Depending on the tides, we head into Lemmens Inlet on Meares Island or cross Father Charles Channel to Vargas Island shorelines. In either direction, there are myriad opportunities to observe eagles, waterfowl, marine mammals and intertidal life. This is a very satisfying 'get-away' tour.
A Day in the Sound $135 | 9am - 5pm | Our guides will share the areas they most like to go when out kayaking for the day. The group will embark on a full day of paddling that explores some of the waterways and islands of Clayoquot Sound. Stopping for a chef inspired lunch prepared by your guide gives an opportunity to stretch and take a walk into the rainforest. Each trip is unique due to the combination of weather, tides and route, along with the natural wonders that pop up along the way. A truly delightful way to have a relaxing day breathing the fresh ocean air of the west coast and seeing the green reflection of the forest mirrored in the water while paddling along in a sea kayak.
Family Outings Small children are tremendously excited by the outdoors and with kayaking they have need for much personalized attention. For this reason we offer outings for children ages 6 - 11, accompanied by adults. The paddle will be paced according to the needs of the children and will include sufficient breaks to ensure their comfort and enjoyment. Tours are 2.5, 4 and 6 hours with custom links available , which includes instruction time. Prices vary with group size and length of tour.

No experience required. Our day trips are designed to accommodate a variety of skill levels, so it doesn't even matter if you've never been in a kayak before. Each trip begins with an overview of the basic skills. We use a combination of single and double kayaks and your guide will help select the right boat for you.

Whether you paddle for a couple of hours or a full day outing, your time on the water will be memorable. For many of our guests it is the highlight of their trip to the West Coast. For others, it is the start of something new -- a lifetime love of sea kayaking.

Each year our guests comment on the way a few hours of kayaking help them feel a connection with this environment. Weaving through the islands, pulled by tidal currents and propelled by your paddling, you gain a strong sense of accomplishment and an elemental connection to place.

All prices are in Canadian dollars.
